Our Porsche 944 S is a very fine French-delivered example, supplied new on 31 January 1987 by MB Automobiles Porsche-Mitsubishi-Seat in Chavelot and first registered on 12 February 1987. This example comes in a very attractive specification, combining Indian Red paint, colour code G1G1, with a black leather interior.
A sportier version of the naturally aspirated 944, the 944 S stands out with its 16-valve 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 190 hp. Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a transaxle layout, this engine offers a fine balance of drivability, precision and character. This version marks a significant step in the 944 range, with more advanced mechanicals and handling true to Porsche DNA.
This example benefits from an interesting specification, with several desirable options such as 16-inch 'Telephone dial' alloy wheels, power steering, an electric heated passenger door mirror, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, split rear seats, a luggage compartment cover, a rear wiper, an anti-theft system and leather upholstery. The full list of options is available above.
This Porsche comes with a complete history file, including its original service book, an inspection report, several roadworthiness test certificates and a file of invoices. The inspection report carried out in February 2026 describes a car in very good overall condition, with well-kept bodywork, an original interior in good condition and a very clean engine bay. The available mileage records also show light use over the decades.
Significant work has been carried out in recent years, including a service at Centre Porsche Rouen in 2020, a service with gearbox oil change and brake fluid flush in 2023, and replacement of the timing belt kit, balance shaft belts and auxiliary belts the same year. A further service was also carried out in October 2024 at 46,338 kilometres, including an engine oil change, a gearbox oil change, a brake fluid flush, replacement of the filters and spark plugs, and the fitting of a strut brace. The invoice file thus makes it possible to trace the main work carried out on the car.
While the Porsche 944 is today particularly appreciated for its balance, timeless lines and ease of use, the S version adds extra character thanks to its 16-valve engine. This example stands out for its French delivery, low mileage, collector's registration, Indian Red over black leather specification and complete history file. A fine opportunity to acquire an endearing, sound Porsche that is particularly representative of its era.
